Shopping

I went to the quilt shop last weekend and bought two kinds of navy dragonfly material.
I had a first attempt with my oranges but it was too scrappy even for me.
Then I put a call out on Instagram and @katequilts came back with the octagonal orb block which I was trying to recreate.
I loved the block so much that I've made two blocks this long weekend.
Here's a close up of the second block.

Block

Here's the layout of my segment of the Canberra plan.

I had been wondering what to do for a week. Then woke up yesterday knowing what I was going to do. I had it all finished by 8. It's a nice feeling to tick something off. Especially since the others have been posting their finished blocks!!

New block

We're making a quilt to celebrate the centenary of Canberra.

We've taken the original plans, drawn a grid over the top and given people in my quilt group a block to do. We'll then put them all back together in order. This is the block I did yesterday.

It's a newly formed group the Canberra modern quilt guild, part of the international group.

Sewing task

This is what met me at my sewing machine last weekend.

Love that I have to sew the pockets on well, with an underline. It was also an opportunity to ask how do you spell...

Ninja

Ben has taken to dressing in ninja gear. Ski mask, swimming goggles, protective gloves for hygiene.

He particularly likes to do it at night and tap on a window outside.

Last weekend this is what appeared at my sewing window when I was sewing on some binding.

Finished

Art gallery binding

I finished the binding on my art gallery fabric wedge quilt watching *guilty secret* The Voice.

Must say that when the comperes praise the contestants for their hard, hard work with more to come, it's such rubbish. I can think of a million jobs that are harder work!

Zombies

I downloaded a new app called Zombies Run. There's nothing so motivating as having s zombie breathing in your ear to keep running that little bit longer!  I ran for 32 minutes. The best I've done for years.
